Chemistry Day

Thank you so much for such a useful day! This was a fantastic opportunity to see into the wide and varied worlds of STEM

– Hartismere School

Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst

“Congratulations on the success of the great work that you do to support our local community”

Dr Sally Ann Forsyth OBE, Chief Executive Officer

“I just wanted to send a huge thank you for today. The workshop leaders were brilliant and the children loved the day!”

– Markyate school

Thank you for all the information. Really looking forward to getting some of my students involved. It will be something to look forward to past all the strange new routines in September!

Heather McCollin, Westbourne Academy

I have worked with an array of different contract holders and brokers as a STEM teacher. The consistency and communication I’ve had with SETPOINT has always been superb. I know they are the ‘go to’ point, and they are always willing to help.

– Jason Chapman – Dereham Neatherd High School, Norfolk

The Year 5 children really enjoyed the session and are looking forward to seeing more scientists after September!

– Year 5 Teacher

“We have worked with STEMPoint East for many years and have always been impressed with the high quality of their offer. We have seen the uptake of sciences at GCSE and A Level rise in recent years and we know that the links we have created with different STEM employers has been key to this.”

– Mark Lewis, Headteacher, The Thomas Alleyne Academy, Stevenage & Managing Director, Hart Schools Trust

“I have used SETPOINT (now called STEMPOINT) on many occasions over the years at my school. They have provided exciting and informative workshops that have engaged our children and given them wonderful new experiences. The children particularly enjoyed the Digital Microscope workshop which allowed them to use high-tech equipment (all provided on the day by the SETPOINT staff) to take time-lapse videos of sugar crystals dissolving. Our Year 6 children take part in the K’NEX Challenge every year and enjoy learning a range of STEM skills, including some basic engineering skills and teamwork. When I had the role of science leader, I also benefited from some CPD supplied by SETPOINT – ‘How to run a science week’ was particularly useful, practical and enjoyable. Many years later I am still using the rocket launcher that I built on one of these courses, to fire paper rockets down the corridor!”

– Juliet Keef, Applecroft School

“You’ve been absolutely brilliant to work with over the years, whether it was helping us to recruit schools for a project (sometimes at the 11th hour!!!), or giving your time and expertise to chat to me and the team, or judge Challenge: Water.  Keep doing what you’re doing.”

– Affinity Water

‘This experience makes my options much easier.  I have more knowledge about STEM careers and have a good idea of which path I will follow’

– Year 9 Student – Stopsley High School after STEM Inspiration Week, October 2020

At Roche we have worked with STEMPOINT East for a number of years on our educational outreach programme. They are an invaluable partner in helping us to further promote STEM to schools  through events and sponsorship initiatives.  They also provide the network we need to connect with schools directly. We couldn’t run our STEM programme without them!

ROCHE Educational Resources

We used all resources (worksheets etc) in our science lessons this week. We love the career talk as well. This is also shared in our form classes to promote career guidance to pupils
